Brush stroke techniques. Scrumbling, blending, wet on wet, impasto, sgraffito, stippling, tonking, ragging, scraping. Create dominance and conflict with varied strokes.

The camera distorts light. Learn how to recognize it’s limitations and how to compensate for them.

Composition and value lessons demonstrated by redesigning landscape photos.

Explore multiple tools to build depth in your paintings. Representational and abstract.

Sept. 28 CREATING CONFLICT IN YOUR PAINTINGS   
Too much of a good thing is “not so good.” Create balance through conflict of subject, value, color and texture. Notan lesson in ying/yang.

Learn how to “blow up” a small image with the grid system. Natural patterns can be quite abstract.
