Graphite and Silverpoint Drawings

from the Visual Archaeolgy Series

In 2005 I was fortunate to see a retrospective of Lee Bonecou’s drawings, paintings and sculptures at MOCA Chicago. It was by far the most inspirational exhibit I have ever experienced. Bontecou combined nature and machines to make some of the most moving drawings I have every seen. She welded metal and sewed canvas to it to make you experience a void. Her mobiles are amoung my favorite objects.

These drawings were drawn after that exhibit. As you can see, I love graphite detail. The images are personally important to me. They began my Visual Archaeology Series.
