Huka Falls is a beautiful landmark near Lake Taupo on the North Island of New Zealand. Like all of New Zealand, Lake Taupo was created by a volcano and, to this day, is still very active. The water flowing in Huka Falls drops thirty-five feet from Lake Taupo. The incredible blue color of the falls is due to a high mineral content that reflects a beautiful blue color.
I took my easel out late that day. The sun was starting to hide behind the trees. I especially loved the shine of light on the shore and the mysterious shadows of the trees.
I checked off a bucket list item while in Lake Taupo. I hiked the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. I joined a group with a guide whose company dropped us off at the trailhead and picked us up after the hike. An amazing view of volcanic lakes.
I was the oldest one in the group. They made me go first over the top.
