Nest. A lair, refuge, hideaway, or breeding ground. Nests kept appearing around my former Florida home. The birds took bits of the screen left over from hurricane reconstruction, dog hair, and sticks to make their nests. Places of refuge. Places to breed.
The surreal screw pine tree outside of my window created a nest for my work. The convoluted trunk reminded me of an animal. I watched it grow and shed with the storms and seasons. The tree hugged my front window, creating my own personal nest. This is where I bred my ideas.
This drawing eludes comfort and a sense of a safe place where fresh ideas can breed.
